Student Poster Symposium at BIO – Spring 2023
The ninth edition of the Student Poster Symposium at BIO ends again with a record: never before have as many as seven courses contributed to the symposium at the same time. And again we are delighted to see that the quality of the work provided by the students (both posters and flash presentations) is high.
This semester we were glad to welcome a newcomer to the event, BIO219, along with 5 regular participants BIO241, BIO299, MOL231, MOL270 and SDG215, and finally our guest GEOF338 from across the faculty (see infobox further below). Topics were presented from a wide range of fields such as microbiology, behavioural ecology, research practice in biology and molecular biology, bioethics, UN sustainable development goal 15 and polar oceanography.
Through the symposium, students present their work, advertise for subjects and projects, and experience a training area that prepares them for the world of research communication and dissemination.
We saw plenty of great posters showing quality work, creativity, involvement and dedication from the students' side. This most certainly reflects all the efforts that the teaching staff puts into the courses, and especially into the poster assignment. And again we watched students efficiently pitching their work with a clear message, a nice invitation to visit their posters, and now and then a very clever cliffhanger. This is simply impressive! Congrats to all of you.
All of this makes the poster symposium a great event that not only gathers our students, but also creates bridges between students, teachers, courses and study programmes, and definitely entertains all the participants. Thank you to all teachers, students and staff who contributed to this event! We cannot wait to the next edition this fall.
Get ready for the next symposium in November 2023
We are delighted to announce that the next edition of the Poster Symposium will take place on November 28th, 2023. We will come back soon at bioPITCH with more information about the courses involved and the programme.
We look forward to seeing you there!
