The student event “Veien til Arbeidslivet” (the Path to Working life), held at the MatNat student bar Integrerbar, was a remarkable success with an audience of 70 enthusiastic students. The event was organised by bioBEE and Gina Koulibaly Barry and hosted by Gina and Silje Maria Midthjell Høydal.
The highlight of the event was the panel dialog, where alumni from BIO shared their paths to securing employment after completing their master’s degrees at the Department of Biological Sciences at UiB. The panelists represented different master programs, such as Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Marinbiology, and Biodivesty, Ecology and Evolution. This event left attendees inspired and equipped with practical advice for their own career journeys, exemplifying the potential for similar events in the future.
We would like to thank the panelists Sondre Olai Spjeld (Engineer at Nofima), Jørund Johansen (Researcher at Nibio), Ingvild Sundal Joys (project manager at Naturvernforbundet), Karen Tvedt (Advisor at Bergen Kommune), and Andreas Midlang (PhD candidate at the Michael Sars Centre) for sharing their experience and advise for future biologists.
