ISSOTL 2018 sessions from bioCEED

The annual conference of ISSOTL (International Society for the Scholarship of  Teaching and Learning) was this year hosted in Bergen from October 24-27.  bioCEED contributed with 11 presentations in the sessions with papers, concurrent workshops and posters. Our student representatives Mari Vold Bjordal, Endre Lygre, Margot Nyeggen and Sondre Olai Spjeld gave the workshop Challenges and Benefits in Involving Students as Partners to Improve Teaching and Learning Culture. We congratulate them on giving their first workshop at an international conference!

Chantal Levesque-Bristol and her team from Purdue University, was joined by bioCEED’s Lucas Jeno to facilitate the pre-conference workshop Using self-determination theory (SDT) to inform professional development, understand why active learning works, and foster the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).

In the opening keynote How Norway went SoTL  by Helen Bråten with friends, bioCEED students Ragnhild Gya, Mari Vold Bjordal and Sondre Olai Spjeld acted out a skit on active learning – giving voice to the students in a clear and humorous way.
