SCOPE coming to UNIS on the 15th of October 2021!
What started off as a vague idea during a coffee chat between two Master students of Arctic Biology, is now becoming a great event for all students at UNIS. SCOPE – the first-ever student-led conference on Polar Environment finally takes place on the 15th of October at the University Centre in Svalbard.
It was quite a long and rocky way to organise a physical event in times of Covid-19. We decided to downsize the initially planned conference and open it just for the local students present at UNIS this year. The aim was to keep the participation fee as low as possible. Therefore, we are happy to announce, that the conference will be free for all UNIS students. The conference is entirely funded by bioCEED – Centre for Excellence in Biology Education.
We are excited to hear presentations from bachelor, master, and PhD students from all departments at UNIS. Students can present their thesis, projects, field work or any other topic they are currently working on and think it is worth sharing with their fellow-students.
The conference will start at 9am and end around 16pm. We will listen to some nice presentations in an inspiring atmosphere with coffee, cookies, and nice chats during the breaks. Lunch will be served, and we will finish the day with a Friday gathering around the fireplace in the cantina.
We are looking forward to a great day with many exciting presentations on student projects, networking, idea sparking and sharing sessions!
